The IELTS Speaking section is a live, face-to-face interview designed to assess your spoken English skills in real-life contexts.
Duration: 11–14 minutes | Format: Same for Academic & General Training
The test consists of three parts:
Part 1: Introduction and Interview (questions about yourself, family, work, studies, interests)
Part 2: Long Turn (speak for 1–2 minutes on a given topic, based on a cue card)
Part 3: Discussion (answer complex questions related to the Part 2 topic)
Fluency and coherence
Vocabulary range and accuracy
Grammatical range and accuracy
Pronunciation and clarity
You will answer a range of questions, including:
Personal questions: Where are you from? What do you do?
Descriptive questions: Describe a memorable event. Talk about your favorite book.
Opinion questions: What are the advantages of reading? Should children use mobile phones?
Analytical questions: How is technology changing communication?
Familiarize Yourself with the Format:
Review the structure of all three parts.
Practice Regularly:
Use cue cards and record your answers.
Practice with a partner or join our Speaking Partner program (see below).
Expand Your Vocabulary:
Focus on common IELTS themes (education, environment, work, culture).
Practice using new words in context.
Work on Pronunciation:
Listen to native speakers on YouTube, podcasts, and our sample videos.
Record and compare your speech.
Get Feedback:
Use our tools for self-evaluation.
Share your recordings with peers or tutors.
Practice makes perfect—especially with the right partner!
Be matched by level, target band, and your preferred practice times (Saturday, Monday, or Thursday, morning/evening)
